Receptionist/Front Desk Assistants
Volunteer Receptionists are the welcoming faces of our organization. Their friendly demeanor and organizational skills help create positive experiences for visitors and staff alike. This role is vital in ensuring smooth communication and operations within the office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet and assist visitors, answering questions, and providing information about our programs.
• Registering participants for program services.
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as filing and data entry.
• Answering telephone calls and directing them to appropriate staff members.
• Administering bus passes and thrift store vouchers as available.
• Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
Qualifications:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Basic computer skills (familiarity with office software is a plus). Training provided.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment.
• Passion for engaging under-resourced community members with compassion and respect in order to provide high-quality services.
Food Shelf Assistants
Volunteer Food Shelf Assistants help ensure that families have access to nutritious food, fostering a sense of community and support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with the setup and organization of food items in the pantry.
• Guide pantry shoppers through the distribution process in a respectful and compassionate manner.
• Engage with participants to understand their needs and provide resources when appropriate.
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the pantry.
Qualifications:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the pantry.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Role may result in some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and standing on feet for long periods of time.
Physical limitations may be accommodated but should be communicated to staff members prior to onboarding.
Warehouse Assistants
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer warehouse assistants to help us with the essential work of collecting, processing, and distributing food donations. This position is physically intensive and requires teamwork, reliability, and a passion for community service.
Key Responsibilities:
● Pickup Donations: Collect food donations from local businesses, ensuring proper handling and transport.
● Unload Deliveries: Assist in unloading food deliveries from trucks and daily pickups, ensuring efficient processing.
● Process Donations: Sort, label, and store food items according to established guidelines,
ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
● Maintain Warehouse: Help keep the warehouse organized and clean, following safety protocols at all times.
● Team Collaboration: Work alongside other volunteers and staff to support daily operations and special events.
Qualifications:
● Ability to lift and carry heavy boxes (up to 50 pounds).
● Arriving punctually for scheduled deliveries/being respectful of vendor schedules.
● Abiding by safety protocols provided.
● Strong teamwork and communication skills.
● A positive attitude and commitment to our mission of alleviating hunger.

How it works:
Deliver groceries to any participant that gives written permission:
- Assist with registration – it’s simple!
- Take a form & income guidelines to participant.
- Assist with completion of the form.
- Return with ID and Proof of Address of participant (photo okay).
- Provide your ID at each pick-up.
- Understand participant’s dietary needs, i.e.: allergies, diabetic, preferences.
- Allow approximately 30 minutes to shop.

Internships:
