Benevolence Program

The BRICK’s mission is to help people in need, providing compassionate, respectful help to families and individuals facing emergencies and crisis. The Benevolence Manager works one-on-one with Ashland and Bayfield County residents who need short-term aid. Together, they determine a plan, establish a workable budget, and set goals that will assist the family to move forward and avoid financial shortfalls in the future.

Benevolence Program Details

What kind of help can I get?

  • Utility assistance (Bring in the most current bill statement and proof of income.)
  • Rental assistance (Bring in lease agreement and proof of income–check stub or bank statement or award letter.)
  • Homeless assistance
  • Referrals to other service agencies for additional help
  • Help in creating a monthly spending plan

What are the income requirements?

Income guidelines for 2026 are:
  • 1 person: $614 weekly, or $2,660 per month, or $31,920 per year
  • 2 people: $832 weekly, or $3,607 per month, or $43,280 per year
  • 3 people: $1,051 weekly, or $4,553 per month, or $54,640 per year
  • 4 people: $1,269 weekly, or $5,500 per month, or $66,000 per year
  • 5 people: $1,488 weekly, or $6,447 per month, or $77,360 per year
  • 6 people: $1,706 weekly, or $7,393 per month, or $88,720 per year
  • 7 people: $1,925 weekly, or $8,340 per month, or $100,080 per year
  • 8 people: $2,143 weekly, or $9,287 per month, or $111,400 per year
  • For each additional family member, add $11,360 per year.

Where do the payments go?

Payments are always made to the vendor on behalf of the person receiving benefits, not directly to the individual consumer.

How often can I get assistance?

A household may receive assistance once every 12-month period.
